Who we are

FOR THE LOVE OF HOME

Our homes are havens, sanctuaries, and escapes. It’s where we go for respite and relief from the outside world—places to rejuvenate after a hard day for some, productive spaces to create and build for others. A well-designed room reflects the personality of its inhabitants, while evoking a warm sensation that lingers in the memory of all who visit. The right design will provide not just a beautiful aesthetic, but freedom from clutter and chaos—the perfect blend of form and function.

INTERIOR DESIGN TODAY

TRUTHS & MYTHS

Many online companies are currently on the market selling room e-design at very low prices. It’s important for the consumer to understand what this means for them, as the client. An online package deal may work to design a single room, but we don’t live in a photo shoot—things can get complicated. For instance, walls may have protruding radiators, outlets in odd places, or windows that aren’t standard heights. All of these issues need to be addressed, and they won’t always translate in a simple photo to a remote designer who’s attention is on thirty other projects. It’s important to know the difference between a bespoke room design with custom details that is curated in a manner traditional to the field, and a room makeover that can be guided by a remote professional designer, leaving much in the hands of the client. Both of these methods have value and an initial conversation will determine what is best for you.

TRADITIONAL DESIGN

On average, a custom room takes thirty hours to design, soup to nuts. That number varies, of course, depending on the size and scope of the space and how quickly the client makes decisions. Burrow & Nest focuses on the flow of the entire home and how rooms connect both visually, and functionally. It includes scheming, measuring, layout sketching, shopping, ordering, and install. All of these skills are implemented in a free-flow pattern, as they are repeated, re-analyzed, and revisited throughout the design process. With any renovation or new build, a designer needs to work closely with the general contractor, architect, and tradesmen. In these scenarios, an on-site designer may be better for your needs.

VIRTUAL DESIGN

In light of our new reality of working, teaching, and quarantining at home, homeowners are realizing their living spaces need to be more functional and flexible, or that a long overdue update can no longer be put off.  Whether or not you’re ready to bring contractors into your home, Burrow & Nest can provide the guidance you need through virtual consulting and design to transform your rooms into beautiful spaces that will function for the way we live today. Having done many quick room refreshes on a budget that have turned out beautifully, there are certainly ways to make a large impact in a weekend without breaking the bank. Whatever your needs—color consulting, organization and storage, home office solutions—all can be guided and implemented remotely. Burrow & Nest’s attention is on your needs and your project. Your home should be unique to you, not a cookie cutter layout. Burrow & Nest can show you how to transform your spaces, even season to season if you'd like, breathing new life into your home.

Homes are their own little ecosystem and therefore require balance so inhabitants may thrive.  A house needs to flow from room to room so it feels cohesive in both style and comfort. Burrow & Nest can help you focus your time, energy, and budget to get the most impact from your investment.
