Bright & Refreshing Interior - Water Mill, NY

This Hampton's home is tucked into the country, surrounded by horse farms. Rather than the classic coastal blues, the client choose the naturalist's approach, reflecting the verdant greens that surround the home. The surrounding woods creating a natural privacy screen, the client opted to forgo window treatments, maximizing the light in this bright and airy space. 

Black and white are the central theme here, with accents of natural wood tones, warm caramels, and a cheerful moss green to complete the look. While the first floor reflects the natural elements of the earth, the master bedroom on the second story reflects the sky, with its pale blue palette and soaring ceilings. 

Hampton's Naturalist - Water Mill, NY

Bristol Farm - Maine

This lovely modern farmhouse is located near the southern coast of Maine, surrounded by beautiful woods and pockets of water. While this project is still underway, enough elements are present to give a sneak peek. The couple's tastes varied, as one loves mid-century modern and the other, Country French. In keeping with the era of the home and it's Farmhouse aesthetic, as well as the client's tastes, we created a Modern Pastoral environment for the whole family to enjoy. 

Bristol Farm - Pool House

After a frozen pipe burst, a full renovation was needed in this charming pool house inspiring a new design. Bunks were created to provide guest sleeping quarters for four, as well as a great place to lounge, poolside, replete with charging stations and privacy curtains. Outdoor fabrics were used for quick drying durability. A pair of swivel chairs completes the conversations area. 
A kitchen makes snacking easy, poolside. A commercial ice maker and bar area were added with enough counter space and storage to blend frozen drinks. Retro appliances in a popping aqua reflect the pool. 

Westchester Tudor - Larchmont, NY

The first floor renovation of this Tudor was designed for a large family with eclectic elements to freshen the home and improve flow. The kitchen was redesigned to include modern conveniences, like quartz countertops and a practical island. Finishes were chosen to keep the space fresh, bright, and classically designed to suit the era of the home. Mid century modern elements were mixed into the dining room and living room. A pair of sofas make for good conversation in the living area, leaving room for a desk and decorative elements behind them.  

Portsmouth Paradise

This full basement renovation provided additional seating for the family to spend time and watch TV, a play area for the kids, as well as additional sleeping quarters for this family of five's guests that often visit their beach house on the water. In the main area, two sectionals convert to sleepers with plenty of floor space to play, as well as work out in front of the large mirror. 

An upstairs guest room gets a makeover for the client's young daughter in fresh whites with pops of bright colors and gold accents, reminiscent of Lily Pulitzer. 

The basement is complete with an additional laundry area, classic bathroom and a private guest room. 

Cozy Family Room - Watch Hill, RI

This room, a former garage, was raw and not properly insulated. A new thermal slider was added, as well as ocular window, wood beams, and shiplap to warm up the space for a classic farmhouse look. Additional seating, storage and display was designed to pull in the extra long room for a cozy nook with purpose. This everyday media room has a lot of extra seating for crowds on holidays.

East Side Providence Georgian

This classic Georgian on the East Side of Providence, RI needed an update and a brightening of the dark rooms. For a family of five with pets, finishes and flow were taken into account with the design. Closets were expanded, a new mud room designed, and space savers, like pocket doors, were introduced. Traditional elements were incorporated in order to maintain the home's integrity, while freshening the space with lighter colors, improved lighting, and a classic but updated style. This project is still underway... 

Beach House Living Room - Watch Hill, RI

The room is designed with the palette of a Conch shell in mind. Pale pink silk-look wallpaper lines the walls, while a Florentine inspired watercolor mural adorns the ceiling and backsplash of the custom built bookcases. 
A French caned daybed centers the room-- a place to relax and take an afternoon nap, while a silk velvet clad chaise is ideal for reading. 
Books of natural wonders adorn the lacquered oak table in the corner. A vintage mirror coffee table reflects the light. Shagreen end tables add a bit of texture befitting the coastal atmosphere.   

Art Deco Bathroom

Classic Kitchen - Watch Hill, RI

Black stain enriches the maple cabinets in this full kitchen renovation. Zebra marble provides a beautiful countertop, while re-purposed granite provides a user friendly work space on the island. Stylish black and white cork tiles provide comfort, warmth, and sustainability on the floor. Custom antique mirror, matched with Artistic Tile’s honeycomb pattern provide a bit of glam to the backsplash. Bistro and schoolhouse pendants stay true to the era of this 1920’s home. Black windowpanes provide a vista to the garden beyond.  

South Kingstown update

A first floor update was requested for multiple spaces, including the laundry/mudroom, guest bath, entry foyer and living room bookshelves. 

Peacock blues were used throughout the renovation. Ergonomics and storage were high priority in the laundry, living room and entry conversion-- closets and a dry bar were added to maximize efficiency in this underutilized space.

Catio ~ Pet Friendly Porch

Pet screening was used on lower portion of enclosed porch screens. Indoor outdoor fabrics were used for durability. Awning stripe outdoor curtains block sun when necessary, while a daybed allows for relaxed lounging. A breakfast table allows the client to dine al fresco. Pops of bright pink are juxtaposed against cool blues and navy. A pagoda lantern was custom painted to complete the look.

This multi-purpose sun porch resides on the second floor of the home, accessible by two bedrooms. Natural wood is painted with white deck paint, reflected by a sky blue ceiling. Scalamandre natural wallpaper in a houndstooth pattern provides a pretty backdrop. The windows slide providing the en plein aire feeling to the space. A daybed pulls out into a queen for bunking in the summer time. Antique writing desk and wicker furnishings provide a comfortable space to read and write. Custom pillows graced with Colefax & Fowler linen print create a cozy sofa to read or nap upon. Potted plants bring the outside in even further—acting as a conservatory in the cold winter months. A capiz shell pendant light tinkles like a wind chime in the breeze. 

Home Office

Striped abaca leaf wallpaper from Larsen adds height and texture to this cozy office. Classic Etoile wallpaper from Cowtan & Tout adds a pretty detail to the ceiling. Files and a printer are all housed neatly in a wall unit by Hooker furniture. The writing desk is silver and gold leaf by Theodore Alexander, casually matched with a bamboo chair flea market find. Charging station and custom made pin board add convenience to the desktop.

Country French Master Bedroom — Watch Hill, RI

Transitional Dining Room - Watch Hill, RI

The faux tray ceiling reflects the light, painted in an antiqued metallic silver treatment. Thomas O’Brien chandelier illuminates this pale grey room, papered in Colefax & Fowler’s leaf trellis. A Theodore Alexander china cabinet adds texture with it’s leather and iron insets. Colefax & Fowler Chinese toile upholsters the backsplash of the china cabinet, providing the perfect backdrop for displaying the client’s heirloom crystal. West Elm chairs provide a modern twist to the mahogany dining table. A vintage antique etched mirror console is restored to house Vera Wang china. A sisal rug brings that touch of coastal charm to the space. 

Mermaid Bedroom - Watch Hill, RI

Philip Jeffries Grasscloth in a beautiful turquoise sets the stage for this otherwise crisp, white room. An Italian coverlet provides just the right weight in the summer, while a Pottery Barn embroidered duvet adds extra warmth for chilly nights. Ballard’s tufted headboard is upholstered in a simple diamond matelasse. Local art adorns the walls, as does a vintage mirror. Glass and crystal lamps maintain the airy feel of the space. Vintage bottles and statues from the client’s grandmother adorn the bureau adding a personal touch.  Ballard’s coral chandelier completes the look. 

Attic Conversion with built in Snuggery beds - Watch Hill, RI

A completely raw space, new windows, insulation and walls were added to create this attic retreat that serves as a guest room that sleeps six. A rich reflective teal provides the cozy library feel of the room, complete with papered built in bookcases. A pair of swivel club chairs act as a comfortable reading or conversation area. Brass fixtures from shades of light, adorn the ceiling. Snuggeries are fit out with outlets and shelves for charging phones, as well as a personal pendant on dimmers, for reading in bed. Storage remains behind short walls in the eaves of the home.   

Tiki Style Guest Room - Watch Hill, RI

Scalamandre Grasscloth provides texture and warmth to this guest room. Touches of coral in the rug and throw pillows remind us of summer. Whimsical paper umbrella shades and vintage wall decor evoke a Polynesian feel that’s perfect for the beach. Embroidered matelasse bedding and silk coverlets make for an inviting bed. 

Asian Style Guest Room - Watch Hill, RI

Kitchen  & Bathroom Renovation - Floral Park, NY

A small galley kitchen was transformed into an open concept kitchen and dining area in this colonial on Long Island. White cabinetry with grey wash detailing keeps to the era of the house, while lucite hardware provide a modern twist. Contrasting granite countertops compliment the Carrara marble in an arabesque pattern that add sexy curves to this bright and airy space. Benjamin Moore’s Wedgewood Blue keep the room fresh, but historic. A custom coffee bar makes for happy mornings. The large island provides plenty of space to cook and for casual dining. A mixed marble guest bath maintains the flow of the home. 

Providence Fixer Upper

Newport Nest

The client wanted to update her Historic Newport condo for a fresh look, without purchasing all new furnishings. We kept all of the furniture in the living room, reupholstering some tired chairs to give them a stunning velvet makeover. 
In the bedroom the furniture was replaced with an eclectic mix in lieu of her matching bedroom set. The printed wallpaper was removed and instead a fresh coat of navy was applied, while the woven grass paper was kept. The client's rugs were mixed in, with some new added. A coordinating Chinoiserie paper was applied to the bathroom, carrying the navy through. 
The client loves Chinoiserie, so these Asian influences were added throughout the house, including the den, where a fresh coat of clue from Farrow & Ball warmed the space. 

Victorian - Westerly, RI

Touches of emerald green and gold were selected to accent the deep charcoal walls of this painted lady Victorian home. Custom Roman shades adorn the windows, providing a clean look that highlights the moldings in the room. A cow hide rug adds casual whimsy and softness to the room. Etageres from Restoration Hardware, custom painted with gold leaf by the designer, frame the entry to the comfortable sitting room beyond. 

Beach Rental -- Polynesian Polish

The client wanted to update her beach rental in Misquamicut, RI, which was full of mid-century details. In keeping with the era of the home, a fun, moody Polynesian theme was implemented in order to keep the vacation vibes at a maximum. A nod to the Tiki craze of the era-- perfect for this beach area. 

All of the client's existing furnishings were kept, while new lighting, accents and wall coverings were used to update the space and give it a new aesthetic. The result is a casual beach house, with unexpected elements that are sure to dazzle the guests. 

Family Friendly Apartment

This contemporary apartment features custom details, designed for a family of five with a puppy. The color palette is warm and light, in purples, soft mauves and greige. Airy sheers frame the rear wall of windows, providing privacy while permitting light into this ground floor apartment. Pickled wood cabinets are built in throughout the living, dining and kitchen to provide much needed storage. A vintage mid century table with matching chairs, upholstered in a textured vinyl, provide easy clean up. A lucite coffee table adds another modern element without overwhelming the room. The rounded edges and sturdy construction provide safety and durability for the children. Full custom drapery treatments provide privacy in the bedrooms, as well as a bold backdrop for the remaining furnishings. 

Family Friendly Apartment - Gramercy Park, NYC

East Village Apartment

While small in scale the sweeping views of this apartment are extraordinary. The color palette in the living area is bright and cheery to compliment the client’s art collection, while still highlighting the view. Built-ins were used to expand storage but also accent the room with bookcases and wine display. A custom storage bench pops in it’s graphic upholstery. Tweed and velvet upholstery provide texture, as does the faux bois pattern to the rug. Cole & Son’s Lilypad wallpaper provides a fun focal point in the hallway leading to the bedrooms and bathrooms. A bright Manual Canovas print serves as the shower curtain in the guest bath. The master bedroom became a moody haven with charcoal walls and lavender damask drapery. Vintage mirror was applied to the closet doors to reflect the light as well as provide a dressing area for the client. Pickled oak dresser and low steel bed frame from Desiron add a modern element. Alabaster lamps from a boutique provide a stately accent.

This co-op apartment in historic Queens was given new life with neutral textures and furnishings. Custom sofa and chairs were upholstered in Colefax & Fowler textiles, a refined compliment to the Grasscloth wallpaper by Larsen on the walls, and the natural jute throw rug to ground the space. Glass lamps illuminate the room. Glass nesting tables and a ceramic garden stool add light elements to contrast the heavier apothecary chest coffee table.

Ogie’s Trailer Park Restaurant & Bar - Providence, RI

This once raw shipping building was converted into a lively bar & restaurant designed with nostalgia in mind. A large custom bar was designed & built as the focal point to this mid-century modern style space. Authentic vintage motifs, antiques, and reproductions were used to evoke a simpler time. Bright colors & retro inspired wallpapers were used to unify separate areas as well as the brand. The kitchen was designed to be a takeout window inside a mid-century mobile home. In the outdoor patio, a.k.a. the trailer park, retro camper facades are a backdrop for seating, so patrons may dine and socialize in a camp setting reminiscent of Leave it to Beaver. Each camper has a different theme, including road trips on route 66 and the music and style icons of the 50s. A Pop up camper was designed in the popular Polynesian tiki style of the era, serving up Mai Tais and Singapore Slings. Inside the cocktails are classic in the Sputnik’s over the bar steal the show. 

The Duck & Bunny

This restaurant, bar and bakery served as Rhode Island’s only Snuggery, which is defined as “a cosy, comfortable place”.  Residing in a 200 year old colonial in one of Providence’s historic districts, it was important to bring the space back to the warm home it used to be before it went commercial. The Duck & Bunny was branded using silhouettes reminiscent of the regency era. Classic European details like crystal chandeliers, Carrara marble tables and Cowtan & Tout wallpaper create the integrity of a traditional English Tea Shop. Whimsical twists on iconic masters grace the walls— ducks and bunnies inserted into Van Eyke and Seurat. The English garden, behind the house, served for Al Fresco dining with an herb garden used for cooking and cocktails. The Duck & Bunny was featured on the Cooking Channel, Phantom Gourmet, and in a multitude of new publications and magazines.

Great Northern BBQ Co.

This northern style barbecue restaurant resides on Providence’s trendy West Side. The restaurant was branded using block prints from the arts and crafts era for inspiration, which carried into it’s interior. Americana quilt pattern tiles provide a canvas for the back bar and Cole & Sons’ Woods and Stars wallpaper adorn the bathroom walls. Deer Damask wallpaper from Barney Gates graces the dining room, providing a warm color palette of deep Claret and metallic gold. A metallic gold patent leather covers the dining chair seats, complimenting the monogrammed backs that juxtapose the live edge benches with a little glam. A special lighting installation resides above the bar, using hand painted skulls by local artists and a rope drop design with unique vintage bulbs for ambiance. Cow hides and Shou Sugi Ban ship lapped walls provide the rough hewn texture as counterpoint to the gold metallic damask. The northern star pattern is repeated throughout the space and a custom diorama reflecting the logo’s image, stands out above the dining area. The white against black woods theme is reflected in a tree installation in the front window, adorned with the woodland animals you would find in the northern hemisphere, chalk painted to emphasize shape and add contrast.

Siren Spell Tattoo Shop

This tattoo shop is not your typical black space with nothing but yards of tattoo art on the walls. The client is inspired by Victorian details that are consistent with the old New England vibe of this sleepy little town. Her aesthetic is reflected in the curated details of art, rich jewel tones, and Victorian era flourishes throughout the space. Comfortable waiting areas make the front of the shop warm and welcoming, while French doors lead to the medical grade studio beyond. Unique feather arrangements emphasize the Siren theme.

Burrow & Nest

Providence area, Rhode Iland

This budget friendly project provided a pretty, neutral, bright update of the client’s bedroom. The wall behind the bed was draped completely with a natural linen brocade, adding texture and warmth to the backdrop of the upholstered bed and linen covered iron bench, which were the only major purchases in the room beyond bedding. Chunky wool textured pillows add some bohemian style. An old fireplace mantle is given a painted makeover with metallic details to add dimension, now a focal point for the room. Natural sea fans are applied to the wall for a textured art installation. This weekend project packed a punch. (Before photos included) 

Cozy Bedroom Update - Cranston, RI

Hollywood Regency inspired apartment — Upper West Side, NYC

This classic six pre-war apartment on the upper west side was designed with the fashion designer owner’s aesthetic in mind. A mix of antiques and modern furnishings create a glamorous atmosphere using a variety of textiles and textures to evoke the mood of old Hollywood. Flocked metallic wallpaper insets, satiny Roman shades with ribbon detail, crystal clear ghost chairs, tufted upholstered kitchen island, and a myriad of vintage and modern lighting add the details that make the space unique to the client.
